Chuck I really don't think you need a super expensive reel I am running Quantum's and Okumas for bass fishing all Spinning reels and the most expensive is 120.00 and those shimano's are nice reeels if thas whar you want to use I really like the Quantum's though, and you can't go wrong wit a 30-40 dollar Okuma

I am going to start Large Mouth Bass angling this year with a dedicated rod and reel, should I stay with what I know, Spinning reel; just larger with a different style rod. Or go with the traditional Bass gear, baitcaster reel and a pistol grip rod ? My goal is to catch the fish and I don't think it matters to them one way or another. I just don't want to spend the $ for something I am not gonna use...I all ready have a drawer full of that stuff, electronic lures and the such. Shimano makes a sweet Baitcaster reel that would do the job very nicely for alittle over $125. but for around the same money I can get a very nice Shimano spinning reel thats the cats meow....Just courious about the slant here on this site.
